There is a new orchid club in the Essex-Windsor area of Southern Ontario as of July 19, 2009
and it will be known as the
"Essex County Orchid Society"
A very dedicated and enthusiastic group of orchid hobbyists who wished to share their knowledge with others in a fun-loving atmosphere decided to form this new club. As a group they can continue to expand their horizons with others, in cultivating, growing, sharing and showing their orchids. Many of the members are expert growers/hobbyist with a range from five to forty years experience in growing varied Orchid Genera.
On Sunday, July 19, 2009 an organizational meeting was held to form this new club. There were 19 orchid enthusiasts present and some sent regrets do to prior commitments.
An Executive was elected and so was the formation and the beginning of the new "Essex County Orchid Society

About Our meetings:
Our meetings are educational where you can learn how to grow or care for your orchids as a newbie or an experienced hobbyist.
At a monthly show table, members bring in their flowering orchids to share with fellow members where they can learn the cultural requirements of those specific orchids on display and have an opportunity to win ribbons for their entries.
Invited growers/speakers bring in orchids to sell and we also hold members orchid sale.... where you can acquire orchids at a reasonable price.
Members share plants, ideas, information and friendships.
Members receive a monthly newsletter about upcoming activities.
We share our growing experiences in various ways by having member's 'Open House' or member's Greenhouse Tours.
The Emporium is open to members where they can purchase their orchid growing supplies.
We encourage members orchid sales and offer day trips to local Orchid Shows and Orchid Nurseries.
We encourage members to attend local events and best of all where and how to by orchids and additional orchid growing supplies in bulk
